Initially, within Tableau Desktop, create a Tableau workbook file where you map your data model.

For more information, please read our best-practices on how to prepare your Tableau workbook.

Step 2 - Go to linpack-for-tableau.com

Once your Tableau workbook file is ready, go to linPack-for-tableau.com and click “Create Dashboard”.

Step 3 - Select your preferred dashboard creation mode

There are two ways to create dashboards with LinPack:

  • Create a dashboard from a LinPack template
  • Create a custom dashboard where YOU define the KPIs and the DataViz that you need

Create a dashboard from a LinPack template

Each dashboard template is the consolidation of market best-practices over the last 20 years in the related domain.

Create a custom dashboard

In case you do not find the template which is suitable for your business case, you can start from a blank template, using the ‘custom dashboard’ mode, where YOU will define the KPIs and the Data Visualizations that you need.

Now, let’s have a look on how to create a dashboard from a template.

Step 4 - Select the template you are interested in

LinPack reminds you of the list of attributes which are required in your workbook to run the template.
It is perfectly fine if the names of your attributes do not match the ones of the template, and feel free to add any additional attributes which make sense for you, you will be able to leverage them in your dashboard.

Step 5 - Upload your Tableau workbook file

NB: Your Tableau workbook file does NOT contain your data. The confidentially of your data is 100% preserved.

Select your workbook file.

Step 6 - Map the attributes of your workbook to the attributes of the template

The only thing that you have to do now, is to do the field mapping between the attributes of your workbook and the attributes of the template, in case the names do not match.

Step 7 (optional) - Customize the template: add new levels of details, change filters, add/change KPIs

Step 8 (optional) - Apply your corporate identity

You can apply your own branding to the dashboard by setting your corporate identity color and logo.
Once done, click “Confirm and Download”.

Step 9 - Confirm & Get your dashboard ready to be used and/or customized

LinPack is enriching your workbook with the template’s KPIs and data visualizations.
Once done, your Tableau workbook file is sent back to you, ready to be used or customized the way you like.
